HOW TO PLAY
Please understand that there are many variations to the rules of this game. It seems that the "house rules" is more popular than the basic rules. What this means is that depending on where and with whom you play, the 'house' or owner of the platforms and bags add their own fun variations.
With that in mind, here are the basic rules to play Cornhole.
PITCHING DISTANCES
1.) Platforms should be placed in a north/south pattern to avoid sun interference.
1a.) Platforms must be placed 27 feet from front of north platform to front of south platform.
1b.) For Juniors or Seniors, platforms may be placed 18 feet apart. Or, if you are playing with a mixed group, you may mark a 'foul line' for Juniors/Seniors.
PLAY OF THE GAME
1.) Can be played as Singles Or Doubles. For doubles play, one member of each team pitches from one cornhole platform and the opposite members pitch from the other cornhole platform. In singles play, both players pitch from the same cornhole platform.
2.) Each eight bag toss (four from each player or team) creates an inning.
3.) Player A throws all four bags then Player B throws their four bags. Player order can be determined by a coin toss. The player with the highest score for that inning will throw first the next inning.
4.) A corn bag that goes through the hole, whether it is the result of a good shot or an opponent knocks it in, has a value of three points.
5.) Any bag that is on the platform at the end of the inning has a value of two points. PLEASE NOTE: Any bag that hits the ground or any other object, such as a tree limb, before landing on the platform is disqualified and must be removed from the platform before play continues.
6.) The points of the lowest scoring player's corn bags are subtracted from the points of the highest scoring player's corn bags. The result is the inning score for the highest scoring player.
6a.) Skunks - The game shall be played to 21 unless a team scores 7 or more points at the end of an inning before their opponents score any points. It that case, the game is a skunk and the team that scored 7 or more points wins the match.
